Create and assign a chore 1. Tap the Menu button and tap the Chores icon. 2. Create a new chore from scratch by tapping the Create Chore heading. a. Tap the text boxes to add a chore name and optional description. Optional: Tap Add Photo and follow prompts to add an example photo of the task to the chore. Your child will see this with the chore description. b. Tap Due Date and scroll through the date selector to choose a due date and time. c. Tap Reward to choose a reward amount (in hours and minutes) per chore. The child will automatically receive this time in her time bank after you have approved completion of the chore. Optional: Tap Repeat to have the chore assigned at a regular interval (daily, weekly, etc). d. Under Assign To, tap a circle to select the child/children to whom the chore will be assigned. All children assigned to that chore will have their circled marked with a check. e. Tap Assign in the bottom right corner to assign the chore. f. The child will receive a notification on their device(s) that a new chore has been assigned. The assigned chore will also show up on your home screen for that child, on the chore list for the day(s) the chore is due.
Assign an existing choreTo use one of ChoreTime’s existing chores, or a chore you have previously entered and assigned in ChoreTime, tap the Chores section (below Create Chore).
a. This opens a list of previously assigned chores and ChoreTime’s starter kit of common chores. b. Tap the circle or words of your chore of choice to use the chore. c. Fill in all chore details as described at the beginning of this screen, under “Create a New Chore From Scratch.”
Approve a completed choreYou can approve completed chores two ways: via a push notification, or on the Alerts screen.
1. To approve chore via notification, tap the chore approval notification to open the app. 2. After log-in, a message will appear that offers the option to Approve the chore as complete, tell your child to Try Again, or Ignore the approval for now. a. Tapping Approve will reward the child with the reward time designated in your chore assignment. b. Tapping Try Again will send an alert to your child, letting them know that some part of the chore needs to be completed or re-done. You can send a short message or picture to illustrate what the child needs to do in order to earn their screen time reward. c. If you choose to Ignore the chore approval right now, you can return to approve the chore later by tapping the Menu button to access Alerts. 3. To approve the chore later, tap the Home button and tap the Alerts icon. a. In the Chores to Approve section of the screen, tap the chore you would like to approve. b. Tap to Approve the chore, tell the child to Try Again, or Ignore the chore for now.
