Connect the child’s device(s) to the account. It’s easier than you might think!
1. Download the ChoreTime Child app on the child’s device(s). 2. Use the child’s new username and password to log in to ChoreTime. 3. The device automatically connects to the child’s account. The device will appear under the child profile in both the child’s and parent’s apps. All apps on the device are automatically grouped into common categories, and they populate on the child’s profile in the App Groups section of the page. ChoreTime immediately begins tracking app usage on the child’s device. 4. Repeat the process for any mobile devices that the child uses.
Note: ChoreTime does not support device management on desktop at this time.
Manage screen time limits and settingsYou can add and adjust the limits on your child’s screen usage using the App Groups area of your home screen. Screen time limits are made on a per-child basis via the child’s profile, so you will need to configure screen time limits for each child separately.
1. On the home screen, you can scroll through your children’s avatars at the top of the screen; tap an avatar to select the profile you would like to manage. 2. Tap the App Groups section to view app categories on the child’s device(s). 3. Tap an app group (such as Games) to see the child’s usage today in this app category, a list of all the child’s apps in this category, and a variety of controls.
Set or edit the max daily limit: Tap the time to the right of Max Daily Limit. Use the scrolling time picker to pick an amount of time, in hours and minutes. ChoreTime Tip: Max Daily Limit is the maximum amount of time that your child will be able to spend in this app group per day (total, across all devices). Even if the child has time to spend in the earned time bank, that program will be locked once the max daily limit for that app group has been reached.
Set or edit the free daily allotment: This is the unearned time available to the child in each app group before any chores have been completed; it is the “baseline” daily time allowance. ChoreTime Tip: Set the free daily allotment time lower than the max daily limit. Then, the child is incentivized to complete chores, earn extra minutes to spend in the apps of her choice.
Block/enable an app group: To quickly block access to an app group, simply slide the switch in the section heading to the left. This action will temporarily override any daily limit settings and simply block all access to that app group for the child, on all devices. When an app group is blocked, the switch will be greyed out; to re-enable access to an app group, simply toggle the switch so that it is lit up. ChoreTime Tip: You can also block app group access on one device only, by tapping the toggles next to Allow All Games on iPhone or Allow All Games on iPad.
d. Block an individual app: If there is one app that you wish to block while leaving the rest of the app group available, use the toggles by each app’s name. You can also limit an individual app on one device only, by tapping the toggle to the right of the device.
